Ranong Airport (UNN) is a single-runway airfield 24 kilometres south of Ranong town, run by Thailand's Department of Airports. Its only scheduled link in the operator's own statistics is to Bangkok Don Mueang, and this site carries that route in both directions: Bangkok to Ranong and Ranong to Bangkok.

Getting to and from Ranong Airport

Thailand's aeronautical information publication places the airport 24 kilometres from the city, and its own published coordinates put it south of the town, and its facilities table for Ranong lists taxis and limousines as the transport there. The same table puts hotels and restaurants in the city, not at the airport.

That listing is the whole of what the publication gives on the subject. Boats to Koh Phayam and to Koh Chang in Ranong province go from a pier, not from the airport, and the Ranong destination guide covers the town and the islands.

Which airline flies to Ranong, and which Bangkok airport

In the Department of Airports' own traffic statistics for Ranong, every scheduled passenger in 2025 and in January to July 2026 flew to or from Bangkok Don Mueang with Thai AirAsia. No other city and no other airline appears in either report. The department publishes those counts airport by airport in its air transport statistics.

Thai AirAsia's own booking pages sell Bangkok Don Mueang to Ranong as a direct flight, with the flying time given as about 1 hour 20 minutes.

International flights at Ranong Airport

The Department of Airports' statistics record no international traffic at Ranong at all, scheduled or non-scheduled, across the whole of 2025 and January to July 2026. Customs, immigration, health and sanitation are all listed as available on request rather than as standing services.

Ranong faces Myanmar across the estuary, but that crossing is a boat crossing from a pier, not an airport function.

The runway, and what the publication lists at Ranong Airport

There is one runway, 02/20, measuring 2,000 metres by 45 metres in asphaltic concrete, with a rescue and firefighting category of 6. The airport stands 61 feet above sea level and has six helicopter landing areas beside the apron.

The instrument landing system (ILS) serves runway 02 only. That direction also has approach lighting and a precision approach path indicator (PAPI), and runway 20 has neither.

The publication lists no fuelling and no ground handling at Ranong, and its passenger-facilities table lists no bank, post office, tourist office or medical facility. The air traffic services reporting office for Ranong is not at Ranong either: it sits at Phuket International Airport, on the third floor of the domestic terminal.

The runway, the lighting, the navigation aids and that facilities table are all published in Thailand's aeronautical information publication, which is the authority's own record of the airfield.

Opening hours, and the mid-year dip

The aerodrome, its air traffic service and its reporting office are all published as operating from 07:00 to 18:00 local time, and nothing at Ranong is published as operating overnight. Build any late connection around that.

The Department of Airports counted 19,092 passengers at Ranong in January 2026, 8,994 in May and 8,054 in June. In 2025 the four lowest months were June to September, and the same January-to-June fall was smaller that year: 10,544 against 8,470.

That dip is seasonal rather than a decline. The department's own file for Ranong gives 131,250 passengers across 2025, and 97,079 in January to July 2026 against 69,946 in the same seven months of 2025.
